Tricks & Tips

1000,000 kilometers. A great journey that brings with it great responsibility.

Your beloved car is still safe from the warranty for 3-5 years. But after a long mileage of 100,000 – 150,000 kilometers, it’s time for you to take care of your car by yourself. And IDEMITSU has a little advice for you…

  1. Spark plug – A spark plug should be replaced every 40,000 – 50,000 kilometers. Especially with a car that has hundreds of thousands of kilometers on the clock, you should pay attention to the spark plug. If a car stutters or you can feel that it is not running smoothly. You should change the spark plug as soon as possible.
  2. Power steering fluid – You should change the power steering fluid every 80,000 kilometers. Because when the service life of the oil has come to an end. The engine can no longer withstand the high temperatures and probably consumes fuel faster than it should.
  3. Engine oil – You can’t use the same engine oil for a car. After every 100,000 kilometers, your car will experience many problems, such as wear and tear. So, you should use a new engine oil for your car that ages over time. If you have ever used a 0W-20, you can switch to 5W-30 because a higher viscosity grade can complete the part of the engine in the car that has been running for many years. It would be better if you choose the engine oil that has the properties of cleaning, prevents rust, and has good heat protection.
  4. Air Throttle – Should be cleaned or replaced every 100,000 kilometers. If the air throttle is not clean. It is probably the dirt or dust coming out of the air filter and can cause your car to waste fuel.
  5. Belt – The belt, such as the timing belt, or front belt, has an expiry date of 100,000 kilometers from the manufacturer. You should check the condition of the belt. And change it immediately if it starts to break.
