เกมเรซนี้ดวลกันทั้งสิ้น 24 รอบสนาม โดยนักบิดไทยวัย 22 ปี ต้องเจอปัญหากับความชุลมุนในช่วงออกตัว ทำให้ร่วงลงไปถึงกลุ่มท้ายแถว อย่างไรก็ดี สมเกียรติ ใช้เวลาเพียง 12 รอบ ไล่แซงคู่แข่งอย่างดุดันขยับขึ้นรั้งอันดับ 12 ก่อนจะบิดรถแข่งหมายเลข 35 เข้าป้ายในอันดับ 11 ด้วยเวลา 39 นาที 20.118 วินาที เก็บเพิ่มอีก 5 แต้ม ทะยานขึ้นมารั้งอันดับ 19 บนตารางแชมเปี้ยนชิพ มีทั้งสิ้น 16 คะแนน หลังผ่าน 9 สนามแรกของปีนี้
ทั้งนี้ สมเกียรติ จะเข้าสู่ช่วงพักครึ่งฤดูกาลราว 5 สัปดาห์ ก่อนจะกลับมาแข่งขันอีกครั้งในสนามที่ 10 ระหว่างวันที่ 6-8 สิงหาคมนี้ ที่สนาม เรดบูล ริง ประเทศออสเตรีย ในรายการ สตีเรียน กรังด์ปรีซ์
